FAQs

What do I bring?

Show up wearing comfortable clothes over your swim suit or proper light wear for wearing in the sauna, and a bag to store them in while you are enjoying the sauna. We suggest bringing at least one, preferably two towels (one for wiping off sweat during your rounds and one for cleaning up afterwards, and a large water bottle or two for staying hydrated. We also suggest extra hydration in your hour leading up to sauna. Also some sandals or flip flops, or some slip on shoes when cooling down to protect those feet in the cold weather.

How do I sauna?

Hydrate first. Then you will change into a swim suit or light clothing, because you will get quite hot and will do some sweating. Next grab a towel and head into the hot room, put a towel down, relax and just settle into the heat. Enjoy some conversation or stay quiet and listen to your body. When you have had enough, typically 10-15 minutes, leave the hot room and cool down, typically for the same amount of time you were in the hot room. Do some hydration, maybe a cold shower, or a cold plunge, and then head back in to sweat some more. Do as many rounds as time offers or you would like. Just remember to continue to hydrate, listen to your body, and enjoy the experience.

How hot will it be in the sauna?

Depending on the weather the hot room will be anywhere between 150-180 degrees. You should always listen to your body and don’t push yourself and make yourself miserable. This is a very enjoyable practice and should be used as such.

Who will be in the sauna with me?

During a public sauna session, you will be sharing the sauna with other random individuals just like in a coffee shop, and you can stay silent or enjoy meeting new people and having all sorts of wonderful conversations .

What activities are prohibited in the sauna?

We suggest that you do not eat directly before using the sauna. We also do not prescribe to using the sauna while intoxicated or drinking alcohol during sauna use. We also suggest leaving water bottles outside the sauna, since the container will get very hot. The sauna is a warm and sacred place and the Finns say that you should behave like you would at church in the sauna.

How much space do I need for the sauna when I rent it?

You will need a flat, preferably paved, space at least 18 feet deep by 10 feet wide, with a clear enough space to back the trailer into it. Please inquire more or you can email pictures if you have questions about your space.
